Streatham-Croydon ladies finished fourth in the league having faced the two bottom teams and the top team  in their last three games of the year.

The ladies put on a comprehensive performance at home against Millwall Venus, in which they comfortably secured the bonus point – despite two substantial breaks in play for an emergency helicopter to land on the second team pitch which is a designated landing pad, writes Millie Ross.

The following week they travelled to league leaders Sutton and Epsom, to face their old rivals in driving rain.

The weather played to Sutton’s strengths in the forwards, and Streatham were unable to utilise their usually strong kicking game.

With a week off for bodies to recover, SCRFC ladies then travelled to their furthest fixture against Cuffley ladies and were able to hold on to secure a 10-7 win.

The top of the table has been extremely tight all season. Having won 10 of their 14 league fixtures this season, Streatham have finished fourth in the table topped by Sutton and Epsom, four points behind Hackney Ladies, and just one point behind third placed Battersea Ironsides but 18 points ahead of fifth placed Barnes Ladies.

Having conceded the second lowest number of points in the league after the league leaders, they can come away confident in their defensive abilities and next season will focus on securing more bonus points. It is a remarkable achievement having moved over into NC London and SE 1 this season and provides a solid platform for the ladies to push for promotion next season.

The end of the season sees the ladies focus on their development team, and with the late March sun shining down they took a slightly slimmed down 12 players to Brockleians Ladies.

New players Emma Rastall and Amy Davies were both extremely impressive in the pack showing  the talent the team has coming through the ranks.

SCRFC Men’s 1st XV have had a difficult season, but March saw them come together for their first win with a 34-24 victory against Old Wellingtonians.

Considering when the two sides met in November, Old Wellingtonians put 60 points on a nilled SCRFC side, Streatham-Croydon had plenty to prove and the result shows the progress they have made in the intervening months. Off the back of this victory, Streatham faced second bottom placed Bec Old Boys, but despite a valiant effort, the final score was 35-19 to Bec.

They also lost after a good battle with Cranleigh away from home. There were lots of positives to take away, and with two games left in the season, both at home, the Men’s 1st XV are looking to close the season out on a high and prepare for next season.

In the spirit of development, the men’s 2nd XV have had some good victories this month including a 15-0 victory against Warlingham. This was a highly competitive and enjoyable game, with Streatham fielding five players who are new to the sport – again demonstrating the potential that the club is bringing through for next season.
