Here Bibi Zeenat Maudarbocus explains Why She Loves Thornton Heath.

“I came to UK in 1994 as a spouse and have lived in Thornton Heath since, in three different properties.

“Coming from Mauritius I missed the hustle and bustle of the city, however I soon started walking down the roads of Thornton Heath and became fond of my weekly shopping trips down the High Street.

”I prefer the current Thornton Heath because of its diverse communities, it makes me feel more at home.

“My road is multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-ethnic and multi-religious just like Mauritius.

“During Ramadhan and Eid, there is a great sense of community spirit, my neighbours and I share food from our cultural background and during Christmas and New Year, we share gifts and chocolates with other neighbours.

“I have always worked locally, and my children also attended the local school. Over the years, I have made so many friends and I do not feel that I am on my own in the UK anymore.

“I love my house in Thornton Heath and I do not want to move out of the area because I will miss my life in Thornton Heath.

“For me, it is important to have everything nearby. I am surrounded by many shops with buses and trains are easily accessible.

“ I have the bonus of the recent LEGACY Youth Club, which my boys can benefit from and it is just a few minutes away.

“Thornton Heath Leisure Centre is close to me to as well as many parks where I can exercise and chill.”
