Streatham-Croydon RFC men’s 1st XV have had a difficult start to the season with the resignation of coach Trevor Young days before the first game.

They have subsequently lost to Kingston, Economicals, and Old Rutlishians.

However, there is a great deal of potential in the squad which has seen some extremely brave performances, writes Millie Ross.

The 2nd XV have seen a few cancelled games already this season due to opposition numbers, but opened their account with a strong win against Reigate.

The ladies kicked off the league with a storming try bonus point 36-5 win against Cuffley Ladies at home, showing that all their hard work and recruitment through preseason is going to pay off.

Their second game was an extremely tough away fixture against Hackney ladies, a team which unfortunately got the better of them, largely through quick pace on the outside channel.

The following game they hosted Barnes Ladies, and at 5-0 down at half time but bounced back, and scored three tries in the second half to win 17-12. On  October 14, they travelled to east London against a formidable team in the pouring rain, but with an intelligent game plan of possession and territory managed to keep a clean sheet, finishing 24-0. They are now placed 3rd in the league.

The ladies Development XV also had a successful fixture against Westcliff RFC, coming out comfortable winners, with a few players making their debuts.
