Palace beat Bournemouth 5-3 at home in a thrilling crowd pleasing end to the season for The Eagles.

There were also testimonials for goalkeeper Julian Speroni, who was given a guard of honour by team mates and  said: “It’s hard to express how I’m feeling right now. It’s been 15 years, and the bond that we’ve built with all the fans here is just incredible. I will never forget it. It’s something that will stay with me forever.”

On 42 minutes there was applause for Jason Puncheon the Croydon-born Palace captain who wore the NO 42 shirt and leaves after six years with the club. He said: “It’s been an honour and a privilege to have represented my hometown club and I leave with memories that will stay with me forever.”

Palace manager Roy Hodgson hailed the pair,  as professionals “worth their weight in gold”. The victory came courtesy of Palace’s star winger Wilfried Zaha, from Thornton Heath,  who set-up three of Palace’s strikes.
