Thornton Heath’s High Street has been transformed in to flag waving pathway to Crystal Palace Football Club.

The banners feature the The Eagles colours, with pictures of Premiership stars including Thornton Heath’s own star winger Wilfried Zaha whose image looks out from a lamp post at Tesco.

The new banners have  generally been well received locally as has the announcement that the club has finally signed up to pay all its staff the £10.55  London Living Wage including agency workers.

A spokesman for CPFC said: “This is a Club-led initiative – the idea is to help signpost the way from Thornton Heath and Norwood Junction stations to Selhurst park for ‘football tourists’ who might not be familiar with the area, but also it’s bright, colourful branding for the Club and, hopefully, enhances the visual environment too.

“In terms of logistics, we are working with a private company, which is licensed by the Council. ”
