Age UK Croydon is a charity that supports, inspires and values people in later life.

It cares about all older people and believes getting older should be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

Its  newly refurbished Community Hub at 81  Brigstock Road have become focal point for the local area offering a large hall, meeting rooms and beauty facilities which are all hireable to the general public.

From these premises Age UK is able to offer a regular calendar of social activities, including Zumba and Line Dancing, as well as tea, chat and craft mornings, singing, keep fit, yoga, bingo, and much more.

Customers comment that their families are busy working, so they enjoy having somewhere to go, to keep  them active and busy.

Each year several outings are also planned to take them away from it all, providing a period of time that they can spend with their peers.

The charity’s aim is to bring people together, encourage healthier lifestyles, reduce isolation and enhance wellbeing.

June Pilgrim-Ndure, Development Services Manager said: “We have a fantastic facility here at Brigstock Road. Not only do we offer a variety of activities and events for older people to come along and try, everyone is made to feel welcome.

Our regulars are always commenting that they like the social aspect of the Hub; meeting new people and forming friendships.”

Last year, the Community Hub engaged over 500 people with over 6,000 classes and sessions for the community.

Services mostly target residents over the age of 50 and include providing information and advice, advocacy, training and employment, home from hospital, help at home, befriending, falls prevention and healthy lifestyles.

Kate Pierpoint, CEO of Age UK Croydon said: “We have ambitious plans for the future of Age UK Croydon to ensure our services meet the changing needs of our clients, as well as reaching more older people across the borough. Age UK Croydon aims to continue to be the lead organisation on older people’s issues in the borough.”
