St Paul’s Church and Community hall are part of three hubs who have linked up as part of a social prescribing programme to improve health and well being.
Parchmore Community centre and Age UK are the other two hubs working with the Parchmore Medical Centre to signpost opportunities and provide community interventions.
To promote the activities and showcase the work of local organisations there was a  Community Day in October, with Art in the Park, Well Versed Ink, Thornton Heath Action Group and many others involved.
The senior exercise classes led by Janey Williams at St Paul’s, and funded as part of the project, started on a Tuesday in May  and have proved so popular  that an extra class has been put on Thursdays because there are now  90 people on the register.
As a follow-on from this  70 people booked in to a senior Christmas lunch at St Paul’s on December 12.
The St  Paul’s hub is especially focussing on supporting the refugees at Brigstock House and have a ladies only belly dancing class; a NCT breastfeeding class and an English class specially for them.
There is also a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist available for consultations during the week and a coffee morning on Friday’s from 10am to noon where you will get a friendly welcome, some refreshments and a chance to find out what is happening in Thornton Heath as well as help and advice if needed.
