A community kitchen run by volunteers is a cooking a three course meal for the needy every Saturday.

The new initiative running every Saturday between 12 and 2pm is kindly hosted by the South Norwood Baptist Church.

The idea behind it is very simple volunteers take food donated from supermarkets and cook up a tasty meal.

The kitchen is for everyone, although organisers hope it will reach those that are most in need, but more than that it is about getting everyone from the community from all walks of life in one space to meet over a good feed.

The project currently has a great bunch of volunteers who are helping out with everything from cooking to distributing leaflets but are always on the look out for new help so get in touch if you are interested.

A spokesman for the kitchen project, said: “We are also hoping to make the kitchen an even more entertaining space through having guest speakers and chefs making an appearance.”

The Community Kitchen has had some great support so far but in order for it to keep going, the project is in desperate need of some more funding and has set up a crowdfunding campaign https://www.spacehive.com/ southnorwoodcommunitykitchen
