A schoolboy was taken to hospital on Friday after being hit by a motorcycle in Thornton Heath.

Police were called to London Road, at the junction of Whitehall Road, at 8.05am to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

On arrival, officers found that a 10-year-old boy had been hit by a motorcyclist.

A Met Police spokesman said: “A motorcyclist was in a collision with a child. ”

The London Ambulance Service took the child to a south London hospital. The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident causing traffic backlogs.

The police spokesman added that the boy is believed to have suffered an arm injury. The motorcyclist was also injured but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
