SCRFC are delighted to hear that December has seen community rugby move to stage E of the Return to Rugby Roadmap, writes Millie Ross.

This means that clubs are now able to begin adapted contact training at all levels (juniors and seniors) in preparation for local friendly fixtures which are able to recommence from Friday December 18. The adapted laws will include no scrums or mauls, and more free kick options.

The men have scheduled a friendly fixture at home against Cranleigh on December 19. They are optimistic that they can get the numbers, as some players will still be self-isolating in the run up to Christmas in order to protect family.

In January they will be playing in a tournament organised by Surrey rugby. The ladies team will begin adapted competitive fixtures in January in a round-robin ‘local cluster’ with nearby opposition teams including Beccehamians and Battersea Ironsides. Both teams are continuing to recruit new players so if you are interested get in touch!
