A dramatic comeback after being three nil down with 15 minutes to go marked the last home game for AFC Croydon Athletic who go in to the holiday games unbeaten at home.

It was two goals from Argentinian Jonathan Paoluccio and an injury time goal from Bankole Koroma that drew The Rams level having conceded three times after the break to seemingly sacrifice their unbeaten home run of games in the league, writes Paul Smith.

It is Thornton Heath v South Norwood on Saturday December 22 as AFC Croydon Athletic play host to Croydon FC in a classic derby encounter.   The following Saturday the visitors to Mayfield Stadium is Fisher who are currently top of the table.   Both games kick-off at 3pm.

As the days draw in the Christmas period always marks the halfway stage of the season and a chance to look back as well as look ahead.

Kevin Rayner, first team manager, is looking to blend a mix of youth and experience as he adjusts his squad for the coming run of league games.   There are still 22 games to play and plenty of points to play for.

The U23 squad has had a more challenging season this campaign.   Last season’s double winning team has slumped to four defeats in a row in the league although they will have a two-legged Semi-Final of the Cup to look forward to in the New Year as they look to retain their trophy.

The club are alSo delighted that one of their U16 cup winners Zain Walker, has gone on to make his professional debut starting for Bristol Rovers at Exeter City. He appeared 12 times for the Croydon teams Under 16s last season scoring 15 goals.

With lots of football still to play there is a chance to purchase a half-season ticket to enable spectators to watch the remaining 10 home games for less than £5 per game.

On behalf of all at AFC Croydon Athletic we extend very warm seasons greetings for the Christmas holidays and look forward to seeing you at Mayfield Stadium in 2019 if not before!
