PUSH IT NEVER STOP

Push It Never Stop is the mantra of a local artist whose work has sold all over the world including to a list of celebrity clients but he is happiest when he is sketching pictures like these of Thornton Heath.

PINS has been a resident of Thornton Heath for over 10 years and sketches he explains to get off his phone, to really ‘be’ in the moment, to really look and ‘see something’ which he advocates continuously towards young people.

The, Croydon born artist, designer, and curator describes himself, as an activist for ‘positive social change’.

A graduate with a Fashion and Business BA, PINS has exhibited works nationally and internationally, with independently curated exhibitions such as #NoFaceLikePhone being featured in The Telegraph and named one of Top five London art shows by FAD Magazine.

Previous curatorial projects have been held at The Wilson Museum, Wieden and Kennedy Agency and in Brixton for the Save Brixton Arches public art campaign.

Celebrity clients include: Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Usher and Kelly Rowland and he has worked on brand projects with Clarks, Urban Outfitters and Converse.

PINS greatest inspiration is his mum and he is driven by: ”An insatiable urge to connect and engage through creativity.”

He adds: “Diversity enriches communities, let’s remember that.”

PINS sketches everywhere he goes; in cafes, on train journeys and at events. The sketches normally take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the detail.

Through his work, PINS explores notions of mass-consumerism and the status of image through diverse motifs such as sneakers, donuts, lips and tea in a truly unique way.

He manages to combine both tongue-in-cheek humour, guilty pleasures and contemporary themes such as the objectification of women in visual culture, obsessions and addictions.

PINS also lectures for universities, schools and arts organisations, as well as running creative workshops and short courses in drawing, branding and marketing.

As a creative consultant, PINS has worked for arts organisations, charities and independents, as well as corporates such as Electrolux and Publicis UK.

An official BT Artist for the London 2012 Olympic Games, PINS continues to push creative boundaries through personal work, as well as community engagement and charity projects, helping people explore and develop their creativity for the greater good.

He has kindly offered to help out with Free Art sessions at Brigstock House run by graphic designer Vân Dang for refugee children.
