Two police officers were taken to hospital after they were injured after arresting a suspect in Thornton Heath tonight.

Officers were were called to Norbury Avenue at 7.05pm after reports of two men breaking in to a car.

A man was detained after he struggled with officers as they tried to detain him at the scene.

Two officers were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault on emergency worker.

There was a large police presence at the scene (pictured).
