Crystal Palace Football Club has been taken to task for not paying all  its staff the London Living Wage.

Cllr Jamie Audsley, Deputy Cabinet Member for Economy Jobs said :“Steve Parish and the Club’s Chief Executive, Phil Alexander are well aware that being a REAL Living Wage Employer means paying all their staff, direct and those employed through agencies, £10.55 per hour.

“After after over year of waiting, and despite public promises the club still isn’t paying the LLW to all staff and are now simply blaming their contractors, rather than taking responsibility themselves.

“The club told us they would be investing in Croydon and its people. As in work poverty continues to rise in South London, it’s time for action!”

A club spokesman said: “All full-time and part-time staff are paid the LLW. Casual staff, who only work on match days e.g. stewards and  catering are employed on an hourly basis  through agencies, rather than by the club, so the club does not ultimately decide their remuneration. However, the club is in discussions with them about this and trying to ensure LLW equivalence.”
