Thornton Heath has become blighted by these ‘massage’ stickers which are known to be a front for sexual services and prostitution.

You can’t walk a few paces along the High Street without seeing a label advertising a women’s name and mobile phone number, stuck to a shop front, building or lamp post.

Often they hide a much darker problem and can be associated with brothels, where women may have been trafficked.

They look unsightly and worst still they are visible for all to see including children. The community is quite rightly calling on the council and the police to take tougher action after months of being plagued by these fly-posters.

The woman (pictured) was caught on camera on March 15 at 1.30pm putting up stickers along Grange Park Road.

She then went through a bag of charity clothing in a front garden before walking down the road putting up more stickers.

Last year some of the culprits were captured on CCTV in the High Street and one man was identified and was charged with criminal damage by police. Council staff frequently hand out fixed penalty notices when they catch suspects in the act.

However, it appears to do little to deter the fly posters as one resident told The Chronicle: “I scrape them off the lamp posts on Bensham Lane on my way to work and they’re back again when I walk home!”
