The ‘Our Green Mile’ project which aims to green up London Road will officially launch on Sunday March 4.

The first planter will be fixed and planted at 11.30am outside West Croydon Station.

The group will then walk the 1.2mile journey to The Pond to fix and plant the second planter, where the ‘Our Green Mile’ will be officially opened and celebrated.

The event coincides with the Great British Spring Clean weekend and volunteers will be doing litter picking on the way as well as showing guests where future planters and green spaces will be.

MP Steve Reed, local councillors, guests from local community groups including: West Croydon Energy Garden, Saffron Central, Wandle Park, Park Hill, Broad Green Residents Association (BGRA) and THCAT, as well as people involved with the project will be planting the first flowers and bulbs of the project.

The project aims to bring the local community together in caring for their environment and making the London Road corridor brighter and prettier.
