A woman has been arrested after she ran at her neighbour with a kitchen knife.

She had initially knocked on the neighbour’s door to make a complaint about noise, but became aggressive before going back to her flat where she picked up a kitchen knife and ran towards the victim trying to stab her inside her own house.

A friend of the victim was at the address and he put himself between the pair and as a result was cut with the knife, on July 24 in Thornton Heath.

Officers from Croydon’s response team swiftly attended and she was arrested. Officers from South Area Command Unit took on the investigation and due to footage and statements obtained officers charged her with aggravated burglary.

A spokesman said:“The roles of both the response team officers conducting the initial investigation and the SACU officers conducting the secondary investigation were integral in being able to gather the sufficient evidence to help put her before the courts.”
