Police are hunting a joyrider who took a ‘party bus’ for a spin and crashed it in to at least three parked cars in Thornton Heath.

The joyrider caused thousands of pounds worth of damage writing off at least two cars.

Police were called at 10.22pm on Monday, 17 March following reports of a road traffic collision in Gillett Road, Thornton Heath.

Officers attended with  London Fire Brigade and found a bus, used for private parties, had hit a number of vehicles and a telephone pole.

As our picture shows the impact of the collision crushed a BMW and smashed the wheel arch of this parked red car rendering them both write offs.

The vehicle was not hired out at the time and was not carrying any party-goers; there were no reported injuries.

The driver of the vehicle had fled prior to police arrival.

Enquiries have established the bus had been stolen from a bus hire company a short time prior to the incident.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

The only bus hire company in the vicinity of Gillet Road is on neighbouring  Nursery Road and is home to the International Coastlines London Ltd which is a specialist hire company in coaches, double deckers, minibus and rout master bus hire.
