A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Jermaine Goupall.

Detectives investigating the death of 15-year-old  made the arrests in Thornton Heath.

The two teens were arrested on suspicion of murder and have been taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody.

DCI Tony Lynes, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, is leading the investigation, and has urged anyone who has any information about the schoolboy’s murder to contact police.

Jermaine, was stabbed to death on Tuesday (August 9) in Georgia Road, close to its junction with Green Lane.

DCI Lynes has said that Jermaine  was with a group of friends, in the vicinity of a Costcutter shop in Green Lane. The group were confronted by three males armed with knives and what’s been described as a machete, and these people were wearing balaclavas.

The detective added that police believe a confrontation occurred and then Jermaine, and his group of friends, dispersed and split up.

Jermaine, police believe, became separated from his friends and was chased alone before receiving a fatal stab wound to his thigh, on Georgia Road.

The group of friends with Jermaine, all understood to be teenagers too, are reported not to have sustained any injuries.

Police are urgently appealing for those with Jermaine before he died to help police with their investigation.

Specially trained family liaison officers are supporting Jermaine’s family.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation should call the Homicide and Major Crime Command incident room on 020 8721 4868.
