Guns and dozens of bullets were recovered and seized following a a raid in Thornton Heath.
 
Officers from the Specialist Crime Command raided an address on Norbury Avenue and recovered two firearms and 38 bullets shortly before 3.50pm on Tuesday January 26.
 
A 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene for possession of firearms and has been taken into custody.

DI Adam Seton, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has reduced violent crime significantly, but it has not stopped our tenacious officers from going out and protecting the public from those who seek to cause harm.

“We will continue to pursue anyone involved in firearms offences. No global pandemic will stop Met officers from seizing weapons, guns and protecting Londoners.”

*The day before at  7.05pm on  January 25 two officers were injured while detaining a man on Norbury Avenue. They had been called to reports of two males trying to break into a car.

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault on emergency worker.

*On November 28, officers recovered a handgun from a vehicle  on Norbury Avenue  and made two arrests in connection with a series of robberies.
