Step back in time and celebrate the wildlife and history of The Great North Wood.

Organised by the London Wildlife Trust the festival features: guided walks, archery, axe throwing, bug hunts, storytelling, music, camera obscura, traditional woodturning, refreshments and stalls.

Meet the  Mudchute family farmyard animals plus acoustic folk music from John McGrath and the Conquering Hero band,  along with a juggling routine from Matiss Duhon and  Ceildh dancing.

Graphic artist and local resident Tim Bird will be on hand to discuss his new comic novel The Great North Wood, an innovative retelling of the story of this largely forgotten landscape.

The Trust was awarded a grant of nearly £700,000 from Heritage Lottery Fund to launch the four year Great North Wood project in June 2017.

The Festival of the Great North Wood takes place on Saturday September 7 from 11-4pm at The Lawns Spa Wood.
