If you live in the Bensham Manor ward love to hear your views on how she should spend her community ward budget?

Community ward budgets were introduced by the Labour Council in 2015 so that councillors could help fund projects that would enhance local areas for residents.

In the first pilot year each councillor was allocated a budget of £2,000 which increased to £4,000 and now stands at £8,000.

So far Cllr Butler’s funding has seen awards to  Thornton Heath Edible Garden Project in Thornton Heath Rec, the Community Garden at the Library and help to fund an arts and mural project at Brigstock House, coming this summer. She also made donations to the borough’s Pride festival in 2016 and 2017.

The budgets can also be spent on community projects, fun days, supporting local groups for a specific activity, furniture and equipment and for brightening up the local area but cannot be spent on projects that would have on-going costs to the council.
