The festival returns in September celebrating its tenth year providing opportunities to showcase local talent alongside acts from further afield in a party atmosphere on the streets of Thornton Heath.\

The 2017 Thornton Heath festival takes place on Sunday September 3, from noon until 6pm on the High Street with something for everyone young and old to enjoy.

Speaking ahead of a meeting with Town Hall officials to get clearances for the event, Festival Chairman Tony Rowland, said: “The Management Committee is delighted to be delivering yet another fun-filled day for the local community!  The Festival is in its 10th year and has always been popular with local residents.”

The festival is sticking with its winning formula offering: a mix of stalls, a fun fair, carnival procession and of course a stage featuring  DJ CassyM as the resident DJ.

Festival Vice Chairman, Councillor Callton Young , said he is looking forward to helping to deliver yet another fabulous day for the community. Adding: “A lot of exceptionally good talent is coming out of Thornton Heath at the moment and the Festival is an opportunity to showcase that and to bring in good acts from further afield to create a great party atmosphere.

“Each year we aim to raise our game and this year is no different.  That said it is getting harder as last  year’s was so spectacularly good with acts like Triniboi Joocie and One the Band bringing Soca vibes to our the festival.”

He was pleased that Thornton Heath Festival was voted the best festival in Croydon in a recent council online survey.

Councillor Pat Clouder, another long standing Festival organiser is just as enthusiastic and called on everyone in the community to come out and enjoy what is the biggest annual event in the local community.
