Detectives are investigating an allegation of rape in Thornton Heath.

The incident occurred at around 8pm on Monday  April 23 in an alleyway off the High Street.

The victim, a woman aged in her 40s, is being supported by specialist officers.

The alleyway  is opposite the leisure centre between Townends Estate Agents and Montas Solicitors and leads to Garnet Road car park.

Officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating the allegation and have made no arrests, a Met spokesman said. Enquiries are continuing.

The alleyway was cordoned off  with two police officers restricting pedestrian access last Tuesday (April 24)  afternoon as shown in The Chronicle’s picture.

There was already a heavy police presence in Thornton Heath as emergency services were involved in a completely separate incident on the same afternoon negotiating with a woman in dangerous position on a roof above Tesco.
