The growing tradition of our community using the Christmas period to reach out to those people living in the hostel in Brigstock Road has led to much discussion about the ways in which we can offer more to make the premises more welcoming.

Whilst most of those living in the hostel do so for a short period, many believe that theirs should be a warm welcome and that the space that many see an ugly blight on our landscape should be improved, writes Paul Macey.

The Community Action Team is looking at ways to link this initiative to develop raised beds for growing vegetables at the back of the building and hosting a community cook out with residents during June’s Refugee Week.
