Brigstock Road is set to get new sense of vibrancy and community spirit with the arrival of a new community hub offering services for older residents.

ASKI  (Advice Support Knowledge Information) is a voluntary and community sector organisation that is well-known for bringing fun, laughter and learning to Thornton Heath with its far-reaching programme of events and activities for older residents.

There is a health and well-being programme with dance classes, arts, crafts and social activities and an accredited training programme that teaches employability skills and courses that lead to recognised qualifications.ASKI is probably best known however for its Place At My Table lunch club where the Caribbean tradition of welcoming people into the community by inviting them to share a meal brings everyone together.

ASKI listens to what people have to say, and then helps them to bring their hopes and dreams into reality. ASKI approached a range of people for support including Kieran Connolly at London Sport and the Peoples Health Trust  and as a result the new community hub, staffed by volunteers all aged 50+, will be opening its doors on November 10.

There will be a ‘pop up’ tea and coffee shop offering delicious healthy home-made treats so why not pay them a visit?
