As Thornton Heath Cricket Club’s statue grows with the club boasting dozens of members the hunt is now on for a permanent ground.

Formed in 2007 at the Thornton Heath Recreation Ground, the club aims to address the lack of support for cricket in the north of the borough.

Thanks to the help of Croydon Voluntary Action, the Surrey Cricket Foundation and local cricket enthusiasts, the club now boasts over 60 members and is growing by the day.

At the helm are Head Coach Asad Butt and Chairman Harshil Trivedi with over 25 years combined coaching experience working with the best young talent in Croydon and Surrey.

Their aim is to get a ground which will get cricket back on the map in the Thornton Heath area and they are getting closer to that goal as each day passes.

They are always looking for new members and combine the latest coaching methods which encourage interactive participation to make sure students grow in confidence and develop their social skills in every session.

In partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club, the club are currently offering coaching to girls and boys at the Thornton Heath Leisure Centre and are looking to resume sessions with a six week course commencing on May 27 at 11am.

The club is also on the lookout for parents looking to get into coaching.
