Aprimary school in Thornton Heath with almost 300 pupils has been given an overall rating of “good” in its first Ofsted report since becoming an academy trust.

Inspectors from the education watchdog visited Winterbourne Boys’ Academy, which became part of The Plantos Trust in April 2013. In a report published on March 30, Ofsted rated Winterbourne as “good” in all of the four areas which were assessed.

In particular they praised Winterbourne’s head teacher Michelle Smith, who was appointed in April 2015, and in the report inspectors quoted Ms Smith as saying: “The school has improved immensely over the last couple of years and we put all our efforts into pupils’ achievements.
