Gloves not Gunz is a registered charity working with young people affected by youth violence and crime which uses the sport of boxing as a tool to engage with young people.

The charity set up by Ben Eckett, and Adam Ballard runs monthly sessions that young people locally can access for FREE.

The sessions teach young people about boxing, healthy living  as well as offering support and advice around youth violence issues.

Ben, a crime and anti social behaviour practitioner and Adam, head boxing coach and a youth community worker who both live in Thornton Heath, are working with Croydon Boxing club.

Based at Croydon Boxing Club in Norbury Park Pavilion, Gloves not Gunz  have future plans to run a program that offers education and mentoring to young people that are involved in youth violence and crime. The young people will have the opportunity to build positive relationships with the staff and other youngsters in a safe environment.

The programme will deliver education around life skills, behaviour change, crime awareness, healthy living, personal development and therapeutic support.

Gloves not Gunz are planning to run a community event in the summer  which will showcase young people’s boxing whilst providing information on our project to the local residents.

Ben and Adam said: “We are applying for funding through Awards for All and are looking to local businesses and anyone interested in support our project so that we can deliver this important work. “We need funding to cover equipment, days out for the young people, summer event, staffing and upkeep of the facilities.”
