“I felt I did quite well and really didn’t expect to. I made more here than a year ago in Boxpark.”

“Thank you so much for giving myself and business the opportunity to be part of the CR7 Market. It was a great experience and just lovely to see our local community family, friends and neighbours out and about supporting the project.”

“Just to say how much we enjoyed the market yesterday! A big thank you to all involved, it was a great event with plenty of stalls to browse and our two-year-old had lots of fun with all the craft activities. Looking forward to the next one.”

“Just back from the Christmas Market. It was fantastic- lovely merchandise sold at the stalls  grabbed some vegan goodies and a signed Caribbean cook book.”

The THIRD  CR7 Market will take place on Easter weekend.

The market between 11am-4pm will be situated on the High Street and coincide with Crystal Palace’s home match against Liverpool. The early 12.30pm kick off will give stallholders a guaranteed footfall providing custom from football fans and local people during the match on Saturday March 31st.

Stalls will be located outside the Job Centre, Salvation Army and Whitehorse roundabout on Easter Saturday.

The second market on January 27 coincided with the successful light festival staged in Thornton Heath as part of Croydon’s 2019 bid to become borough of culture.

The first market at Christmas saw over 30 stallholders offering local arts, crafts and food showcase their goods on the High Street.

The January market focussed on two sites Ambassador House and the light festival at Trumble Gardens which was a spin off of the week long light event Lumiere in central London. Unfortunate weather conditions provided a difficult backdrop for traders on Ambassador House which was battered by wind and rain during the afternoon and has ruled it out as a future market location.

Trumble Gardens proved to be a better occasion for stallholders many of whom sold out.

On December 16th, the first of a three month market pilot was launched by Thornton Heath Community Action Team which was accompanied by an ice rink, and also featured local talent showcased in the Salvation Army centre.

The project will be evaluated and a discussion will take place with the council over the future management of the market.

CR7 Market aims to encourage local artisans, with handcrafted items on offer including: ceramics, printed t-shirts, vinyl, jewellery, natural skin products and mosaics as well as hot food and sweet and savoury snacks.

Many of the stallholders from the last market enjoyed it so much they are returning and will certainly get a warm welcome. There were lots of positive comments with the market being praised for its ‘sense of community’.

The market team were keen to make improvements where necessary and conducted a survey of all stallholders which have resulted in some changes and  new additions to the market.

Lauraine Crawford, of Brown Shuga Dumplin, summed up stallholders opinion as to why she would have another stall: “I think the market is brilliant for a number of reasons. It helps small and new business showcase their talents to their community. It also supports the motto of shopping locally, and shows Thornton Heath in a good positive light.”

Stalls and pitches are £30.

  • ALL stallholders are required to provide up-to-date public liability insurance.
  • ALL hot and cold food vendors are required to provide an up-to-date food hygiene certificate.
  • IF you are selling hot foot you MUST have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket.
  • ALL stallholders are responsible for and MUST take away their rubbish.
