The late Indian Classical music legend, Ravi Shankar described Arun Ghosh  as a ‘natural born improviser’ and he has performed alongside jazz greats  Nitin Sawhney and Courtney Pine.

Championed by the likes of British artists Cerys Matthews and Jamie Cullum, his albums and performances at concert halls and festivals nationwide led him to be awarded ‘Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year 2014’ at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Espousing a truly global musical outlook and identity, the British-Asian clarinettist  has taken his sound and style around the world, performing concerts and delivering masterclasses from New York to China, Ukraine, Morocco, Kenya, Kuwait, UAE and across Europe.

However, Arun Ghosh can just as likely be found playing on the CR7 streets, with impromptu carols by the Clocktower at Christmas, welcoming in the New Year with his renditions of Auld Lang Syne and bashing out Beatles and Blues songs on Thornton Heath train station’s piano at the end of the working day.

Pupils at Whitehorse Manor have been introduced to his jazz clarinet playing at his regular drop-ins to the school.

Conceived in Calcutta, bred in Bolton, matured in Manchester and now living in Thornton Heath, Ghosh has just launched his fourth album: But Where Are You Really From? which is released on the locally-based independent camoci records label. It has already received critical acclaim with a front cover in the leading jazz magazine Jazzwise .

He has also announced a series of live dates including an

appearance at the EPG

London Jazz Festival.
