To mark the centenary of votes for women Thornton Heath Arts Week will focus on the theme ‘Inspire’.

The week will discover and explore women’s art, stories, endeavours, and the form feminism has taken through different cultures all of which has inspired change and creativity.

Building on last year’s hugely successful events, the week will involve Well Versed Ink, Lenses of Croydon, Young Peoples Insight, Art in the Park, and the ever-popular Thornton Heath in Bloom run by the Thornton Heath Action Team.

Plans are in place to hold activities in Trumble Gardens, a film night in the Prince George, an arts trail across the area and a night of music, poetry and discussions involving the stories and memories of women from the area.

THAW will run from Saturday 14th to Saturday 21st July and in keeping with the ethos of the week all are invited to take part and contribute in anyway. If you are interested, please email thorntonheatharts@gmail.com

DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL?

As part of this year’s Thornton Heath Arts Week local women are being invited to tell their story of life in the area and how different cultures have played a part in the fight for gender equality.

Stories will be told as part of a panel discussion on Monday July 16 and be accompanied by music and poetry.

If you are interested in taking part, please contact THAW: thorntonheathart@gmail.com
