The Chronicle can today reveal who REALLY owns the long vacant Thomas Farley public house.

The Farley and The Wheatsheaf public house on The Pond are in the ownership of the same company – Golfrate Property group, based in Wimbledon and owned by an Isle of Man Trust.

The Thomas Farley is registered as being owned by Iconic Properties Ltd and The Wheatsheaf – Impact Properties Ltd,  both incorporated and listed at the same address in the Isle of Man.

Golfrate’s Hussein Aziz, was given planning permission in 2017 to demolish The Wheatsheaf and replace it with a five storey mixed use development. The Farley has sat empty since being purchased in July 2016 by Iconic, despite interest from trendy pub chain Antic. In 2017 Iconic got planning permission for continued use as a social hall and pub along with flats at the rear.

Golfrate Property, owned by the Aziz family controls more than £2.5bn of real estate including large portions of the West End as well as  lots of empty pubs.

Hussein Aziz on Golfrate.com says: “Since 2009 Golfrate has been aggressively acquiring distressed and semi distressed London assets and has over £100m to spend this year on the correct deals.”
