There was a real sense of community spirit as local residents turned out on a sunny Saturday  morning to make Trumble Gardens shine.

A total of 27 volunteers including 10 children armed with litter pickers, trowels, and flowers gave the gardens a well deserved Spring clean.

Some considerable elbow grease was put into the neglected area between the rangers hut and playground to make the space clear for new plants and future projects, so watch this space.

Three large concrete tubes were planted with flowers and turned in to planters  while dozens of bags were filled with litter and weeds.

Organisers would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came out on the day and got involved.

The playground is also set to get a well overdue make over with aparatus repaired and painted along with new picnic tables.

A new group, The Friends of Trumble Gardens hopes to organise timed play sessions to increase feelings of safety.  During Thornton Heath Arts Week there are also plans for an  ‘audible art’ project in the gardens.
