Last month’s community led event brings together all cultures living in the borough to celebrate diversity, promote community cohesion and showcase various businesses and services that are available to all.

Residents, councillors, community and faith leaders, people with interest in Croydon meet in a social and relaxed environment to discuss issues that would make Croydon a better place.

At this year’s event the Mayor of Croydon Cllr Toni Letts highlighted the essence of such an event and presented awards to individuals and groups for their contribution to the community including the borough commander for policing in Croydon Jeff Boothe, Cllr Alison Butler, deputy leader of the council and the Thornton Heath Community Action Team.

This year Parade of Nations hosted the Romanian community (pictured) in their full regalia, various African and Asian countries showcasing their culture through drama, dance and food and over 24 young people from the National Citizen service attended.

The Chief organiser of the event over the past five years Jonathan Bob-Amara noted that through Communities United- Croydon residents are becoming much more proactive in engaging with their neighbours.
